Recipe

Mock Tamari Sauce

Use as soy sauce; excellent as a dipping sauce when mixed with red chilies and honey.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 2 cubes GF beef bouillon (Edward & Sons), or bouillon of choice (verify gluten free)
  • 4 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons dark molasses
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 pinch white pepper
  • 1 pinch garlic powder

Method

  1. Place saucepan over medium heat; whisk together water, GF beef bouillon cubes, balsamic vinegar, molasses, ground ginger, white pepper, and garlic powder; whisk to completely dissolve bouillon cubes.
  2. Boil gently, about 15 minutes, until liquid is reduced to less than 1 cup.

Pour into storage container; set aside to cool; store in refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Use as soy sauce. Servings: 6 ounces. Prep Time: 10 minutes. Cooking Time: 15 – 20 minutes.

Variation

To use GF soup base: omit Edward & Sons cubes; add 2-1/2 tablespoons GF soup base of choice (beef produces the most authentic flavor).
